Why do we Pig Jig?

To Find a Cure for Nephrotic Syndrome!

The first ever Pig Jig started in 2008 when a group of friends organized a simple backyard BBQ competition in Tampa Bay, FL in support of their dear friend who had lost his kidneys due to an aggressive form of Nephrotic Syndrome.

Know what would be music to our ears? A cure for FSGS.

All proceeds from Pig Jig events benefit NephCure.  NephCure is the only organization in the world solely dedicated to to finding the cause, better treatments, and cure for Nephrotic Syndrome and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), protein-spilling kidney diseases.

Nephrotic Syndrome is one of the most severe and aggressive types of chronic kidney disease and equally affects children and adults. More people die each year from Chronic Kidney Disease than those who battle Breast or Prostate Cancer.

If you Fight for One, you Fight for All, so let’s ‘Cue up a Cure, together!

Thanks to passionate supporters like you, Pig Jigs across the nation have helped build hope and momentum in the fight to find a cure for FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome. Together, we’ve been able to connect patients throughout the U.S., building a network of support for those enduring Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS, grow the number of clinical trials from just three in 2011 to more than 26 and donate millions to fund critical research and find a cure.

Whether you choose to join us as an individual donor, corporate sponsor, volunteer, barbecue competitor or event attendee – your support is making a difference in the lives of those living with kidney disease.

Keep the fire stoked as we try to ‘Cue up a Cure.

The average cost of a NephCure Welcome Kit – a lifeline for newly diagnosed Nephrotic Syndrome patients – is $5,000. The average cost to fund a research program for one year through NephCure is $50,000. Every dollar helps!
